Tesco 'interested in acquiring axed Post Office branches' as part of franchise model

According to reports, Tesco has shown interest in taking over a selection of Post Office branches that have been discontinued, with the intention of operating them under a franchise model.
Sky News revealed that Post Office chairman Nigel Railton informed MPs earlier this week about the UK's largest supermarket chain's interest in the 108-site Crown Post Office network, as reported by City AM.
WHSmith and the Co-op are already managing numerous post offices across the UK as franchises. The remaining offices, known as Crown Post Offices, are now the focus of Tesco's expressed interest.
