Welsh Government invests £8m into tidal project
The Welsh Government has invested in Europe's largest sanctioned tidal energy project. The Morlais tidal scheme, managed by social enterprise Menter Môn from Ynys Môn, is expected to be 2026.
To ensure the project's momentum, the Welsh Government has invested £8m for a 13.6% equity stake. Morlais has also received £31m in European funding alongside investment from the Crown Estate, and it anticipates additional finance from the North Wales Growth Deal.
